On Friday we adventured to the Cotswold's for a night at The Fish Hotel, in Broadway. I treated myself and Sam [and the dogs of, of course] to a night away to celebrate our anniversary.
I'd been eyeing up The Fish Hotel and the other Farncombe estate hotels for some time, and when a great late deal popped up, I just couldn't say no.
We love going away with the dogs, but this hotel totally excelled itself, it truly was dog friendly rather than just allowing the dogs to be there- like other hotels we've stayed in the past.
You can see our doggy days out and trips here
We visited the village of Broadway before heading to the hotel in the Farncombe Estate. The three hotels are spread out over the 400 acre land, and all seem as individual and perfect as one another. We adored the look of the Fish, and it really was within our price range compared to the other two, making sure we had more money to spend on afternoon tea and Prosecco.
The room is so pretty, with a gorgeous interior and super cosy king size bed. Our window faced onto a back field, where you could see countryside for miles around, it really was picture-perfect.
We popped along to the lounge area for afternoon tea, which really was the scrummiest! The lounge area was gorgeous, again with wonderful interiors a roaring fire and a lovely relaxing feel. Almost all dog friendly hotels we stay at won't allow dogs in the restaurant, which is something we fully understand and appreciated, we truly didn't mind here because the lounge bar was so lovely. They had both comfy sofas and normal size tables and chairs which I really need when eating breakfast or dinner.
The afternoon tea was delightful, and we had just enough of everything to keep us full for the following evening of drinks and chats in the bar. Lily made her self very comfortable on Sam's coat, on one of the chairs and Sev settled down really quickly with a chew. They were fussed over and given treats, it really was lovely to be there with them and we didn't find it difficult or a hindrance at anytime. For Lily's first time away, she really was a super star, and Sev certainly is a pro at being spoilt on mini-holidays.
We made the most of the lovely room and got room service later that evening, while sipping tea in our pj's and cuddling up with the dogs- perfect Friday night if you ask me.
The bed was super cosy and we both had a wonderful sleep, although Lily did get us up in the night, it was easy just to pop her outside quickly because there was grass and fields all around us. This is such a big deal for us, we really don't want to be crossing the street and trying to find a small patch at 1am in the morning. We finished our time at The Fish Hotel with an amazing breakfast, which we ate in the Lounge area, again. It was a buffet style breakfast, so we could help our self to cooked breakfast or continental. We filled our self up ready for our dog walk around the estate, which was lots of fun and very muddy indeed. Luckily there were plenty of Hunters wellies that we were able to borrow and use, which worked out perfectly so we didn't have to worry about muddy feet, just muddy paws!
Thanks so much to the Fish Hotel for having us, it truly is the best dog-friendly hotel we've stayed at, and it's just bloomin' beautiful!
