We love to visit Cornwall any time of year, it's no secret that Cornwall is very much one of our favourite places to take the dogs.
After a very busy and full on year, moving [yes again!] and working hard on my photography business, it was the perfect time off to actually visit Cornwall in Winter.
Celebrating New Year, my 35th Birthday, our anniversary and to just be able to rest and explore- the perfect mix.
The Old Sunday School
We stayed in such a gorgeous place near the Devon-Cornwall boarder. As a huge lover of the North coast of Cornwall, I always like to try and explore more of Cornwall and I find the winter the perfect time to do this.
The Old Sunday School is an amazingly dog friendly romantic retreat, and we really had the best time with both relaxing and adventuring with Sev & Lily.
I don't know where to start with this gorgeous holiday home but how dog friendly it was really did make such a difference, our blog is always about finding dog friendly places to travel and stay, and we've certainly tested out some great places, however truly dog friendly is hard to come by, and The Old Sunday School did it so well.
There really are no dog rules! Being allowed on the sofa & the bed, being welcomed with their own embroidered name towels & treats [such a lovely touch] with many more blankets & towels to use- which was certainly needed on our rainy trip. There's also an outside hose was is such a small but amazing thing to have and access to a large field literally on your doorstep for extra zoomies if the walks haven't been enough. We honestly felt so relaxed knowing the dogs were truly welcomed.
The whole accommodation is gorgeous, it feels luxury and cosy all at the same time. The bed for starters is literally what dreams are made of, it's so comfortable- I wish we had another day there just to stay in bed. The fire makes it so cosy, especially in the Winter, there's plenty of logs and kindling to set you up for the whole stay too.
Not only do the dogs get their little welcome pack, there's also a gorgeous hamper waiting for the humans too. I'm one of those people who hardly uses anything out of hampers, it's never anything you really want or like, and it's more just how it looks than it being useful or something you like, well this one was close to perfect! We got so much use out of everything in there through our stay, and it really added something special to our time at The Old Sunday School too.
It's also so easy to access so much of Cornwall for this location too, and we even went via Dartmoor for a walk before we arrived.
Places we visited in Cornwall [and Devon]
Dartmoor
Some how I don't think I've ever been, and although I know we have more to explore here, it was great to get out on New Years Day and ramble through the Moors.
Bellever Forest
Also in Dartmoor, we saw the signs for this on the way through & on the way back home decided to stop here. There's different trails to take and even though we did get lost, it was still a lovely woodland walk.
Kit Hill
This lovely walk is so close to The Old School House, and was really gorgeous, even in the rain. You could make this as long or short as you need, using it as a lovely walk seeing those hills and gorgeous views, or just taking the dogs then to have a quick run around before you head to explore more of Cornwall.
Whitsand Bay
This turned out to be one of our favourite spots, and I'd head back down here again on another visit. It's such a gorgeous beach, and although the tide wasn't on our side, we still managed to have a lovely walk and paddle.
We also ventured back there for sunset, on the only clear sky day, of our trip, which was really beautiful. I'm not sure if its my neuro-diverse brain, but when I find somewhere that's gorgeous and I feel free and wonderful to be there, I'll keep visiting.
Overall we adore visiting Cornwall in Winter, the air is fresh, the evening skies are pretty and the wood burner is needed and makes it even more cosy. Cornwall is a lot quieter and means you get to explore even more places with less people.
